Obama got to be a Nobel laureate for spilling his tea. He has now a burden on his lithe shoulders to do something that would stand out for Americans and the rest of the world. Even Bo thinks so.

“Children kicked a soccer ball around on July 17, on a slope in eastern Kabul, above a Shia mosque and the largest Shia graveyard in the city. According to the United Nations more than 60,000 children have to work in the streets of Kabul to survive because their parents were either killed in Afghanistan’s conflicts or are alive but unable to care for them”
These kids are the kids of a human race and not aliens and deserve better. Let Obama wield his Nobel Peace Prize to bamboozle his detractors and create a better future for them, the whole Muslim community and world at large.
How?
Buy 10000 square miles of land in Saudi Arabia. The Saudi kings are Bush puppies and would do this in a jiffy.
Build first rate houses for them, well equipped schools and bring teachers from all over the world. Create a heaven on earth without concubines.
Transport all the 60,000 children from Afghanistan to this place in new Boeing Dream liners. Feed them, nurture them, house them and educate them. Train them to be leaders’ of communities, engineers, scientists, inventors and citizens of the world.
And then unleash them on the most vulnerable places in the world like Pakistan, Somalia, Palestine and Kashmir.
This is the war we need to be fighting. Our wars ought to be against need, hunger and deprivation. Who cares about capitalism, communism, socialism and empires and petty fiefdoms? All other wars have produced death and destruction since crusades and Genghis Khan.

They Cannot Kill Democracy
Democracy is the art of creating a government out of a peaceful and civil discourse. Since times immemorial people have been trying to sabotage democracy but its resilience is legendary. The graves of the opponents of democracy are littered all over. This is despite useful reminders from Alexis de Tocqueville who warned us that democracy could bring “soft despotism” and “tyranny of majority”. Aristotle also proved dead wrong when he said “In a democracy the poor will have more power than the rich because there are more of them and the will of the majority is supreme”. It never happened. The richer and smarter people always had a sway. Sometimes the colossus of democracy seems to be a magnet for those who are harboring a death wish.
Get into your car or put on your TV at home. Rush Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Olbermann, Beck, Hannity and others are barking at you. They are spewing hatred day in and day out. They practice Goebbelean methods to target masses. They call themselves entertainers. They may well be from the Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. I will take entertainment from Jon Stewart, Letterman, Bill Maher or Leno. The talk show hosts are undermining the democracy? They are neither civil nor liberal or conservative. They are for themselves and greedy. Look at their multimillion dollar pay checks. The movement to undermine democracy in US led by them is on. It is floundering and bound for the dustbin of history. Winston Churchill who said “Democracy is the worst form of government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time” seems to be the cheerleader of this clan.
The Gore–Bush legal skirmish a decade ago democratic was a big time challenge to democracy? When hordes of lawyers and millions of dollars come into play to decide an election, it is no longer democratic activity. Most elections in US now mean expenditure which is out of the reach of an ordinary American.
When civil liberties are trampled anywhere in the world, for whatever reasons, it is a poison pill for democracy. It does not matter if the cause is just or unjust. If human beings are scanned every time they call or hear a phone, see TV, go on Internet, buy something or cross a road, the democracy must be in trouble. Franklin Roosevelt’s mantra about civil liberties and the role of government is true. In his words “The only sure bulwark of continuing liberty is a government strong enough to protect the interests of the people, and a people strong enough and well enough informed to maintain its sovereign control over its government."
When we go to war to justify the last war we must be under the thumb of those who hate democracy. Not satisfied with thousands of years of war and millions dead, the Middle East is still at each other’s throat. After millions killed in 1947, Pakistan and India continue their death match. US bombed Balkans, Afghanistan and Iraq to Stone Age and has been serially in war since world war. War is anti democracy. War never produces a democracy.
Democracy and economics may not be compatible. It needs mass participation in every aspect of life. When this happens, the vultures of society start hovering overhead and swoop on unsuspecting masses. At the time when people wanted to explore and venture out of their homes, slavery struck us. When industrialization appeared, Hitler, Japanese and British ravaged the world. And now in the age of mass communication, TV and computers, the bankers and insurers stuffed their pockets and left people high and dry.
This is a depressing picture. Still the spirit of democracy is alive and kicking. The democracy and free enterprise are embedded in human spirit which can be subdued at times but never killed.
The convergence of various cultures in United States of America is the nature’s way of providing an unbeatable bulwark against the tyrants, killers, greedy, liberals, conservatives, talk show hosts and terrorists all over the world.

Freaking them out
Obama is freaking them out. The novelty of the first black President refuses to wear off. The legislators, politicians and bureaucrats were all waiting for election to be over and going back to business as usual. It is more than 100 days but Obama is still freaking them out. He refuses to relinquish the bully pulpit to anyone.
Rush Limbaugh has been doing clownish flips in order to seek attention and got so exasperated that he decided to court a forced sale of his condo in New York. McCain was so mesmerized that he could not bark a better question than about cancellation of presidential helicopter deal when we are embroiled in a life and death economic struggle. Republicans are still in a treacherous market shopping for someone to hang their coat on. Republican governors have been swallowing their own words while begging for federal aid to meet their deficits. Bobby Jindal tried and badly stumbled on national TV. Sarah Palin is reeling under the weight of her daughter’s indiscretions. Listening tours and teaching tours are touted for a Republican revival. No traction yet. Pelosi, Geithner, Gingrich, Romney, Steel and many more have been sidelined. No scandal, no war, no crisis, no tragedy or dog purchase has escaped Obama’s pulpit. Legislators from both parties and media and media hogs are at their wits end.
Obama has completely obliterated their faces and TV time.Obama has not only seized the bully pulpit with FDR type vengeance. He wrings somebody’s neck every time he is on it. He has choked all oxygen to his opponents.
Not a day passes when Obama is not pontificating to the country and world. He does what FDR used to do every day. Does something and goes whole hog. If it fails apologizes profusely for it and starts doing something else. Like FDR he is always doing something. Obama has surrounded himself with a lot of experts and is always showing them off. He is freaking out all his opponents by this daily parade.
Not content with occupying national stage, Obama in the midst of this plastered Europe with his press conferences and hobnobbing with Sarkozy. Brown in UK, Merkel of Germany and Medvedev are smiling widely because Bush had made them cry. Africans and Asians are more hopeful
Not content with shutting out his opponents from all kinds of broadcast time, Obama regularly sends Giethner to bore listeners with his plans. Hillary is on conquering new countries which were out of bounds for Bushies. Janet Napolitano is not afraid to talk border and immigration. Healthcare is on the agenda and everybody is talking about it. Economy is Summer’s hands and looking up.
In the mix is Michelle Obama’s kitchen garden, her biceps and dresses from J Crew, Jewish lunches, the buying a dog and concerts.
No wonder Glen Beck is crying, Haley Barbour is crying foul and complaining that Obama is on a constant election campaign. O’Reilly is panting with a lot of irrelevant cultural issues. His hackneyed themes of Socialism, Marxism, abortion, gay rights and national security are back and no one is paying any attention to it.
It is Obama all the way. And everyone is freaked out.

The Rule of Zombies
After the slaughter of more than 75000 human beings the Sri Lankan army had cornered their leader, Prabhakaran. They killed the mastermind of the bloody Tamil insurrection. They photographed his bloated corpse a thousand times and paraded it around the town. The world had just witnessed the birth of a zombie. His henchmen immediately claimed that Prabhakaran had planted a duplicate and he had flown away on a golden chariot to the land of zombies. This zombie will rule the world for a long time. The zombie terrorists kill more people than the living terrorists. Zombies do not need to hide.
Zombies are a very powerful clan and they rule the world thousands of years after they are dead. Many of them are miraculously credited with more powers than they ever had when living. Osama Bin Laden is another big zombie these days. No one knows where he is but his zombie is the front man for Al Qaida and many world governments who need him alive even when he is dead. A mere picture of him could launch a suicide bomber all over the world. Karl Marx is another very powerful zombie. People love him, people hate him and many do not what to do with him. They cannot get rid of him. The recent economic meltdown has added to his power.
Everyone wants their own zombie. There are big zombies and small zombies. The big zombie of Khomeini is still the de facto ruler of Iran. Churchill’s zombie walks very tall in Great Britain. This plump zombie is always drinking and not getting drunk. Charles de Gaulle is still a very potent zombie in France. Luckily a lot of people are no longer shooting at him. Gandhi is all over the place in India. They loved him so much that they assassinated him and made him a zombie. We have more zombies in United States than anywhere else. Washington, Jefferson and the two Roosevelt’s are the most popular ones. The latest is Ronald Reagan. In United States even murders like Charles Manson and Bonnie and Clyde have some times joined the elite zombie class. One American zombie is hiding all the time. Truman is still not sure about dropping atom bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Mongolia has recently launched a determined bid to resurrect the zombie of Genghis Khan. Everyone is trying to wake him up. And who can forget the dirtiest zombie of Hitler. This killer zombie just cannot help killing.
Our living leaders badly need zombies to clutch on to when they are clueless about things. They can blame things on them. A zombie is a leader who cannot be questioned and grilled by anyone. A zombie is always supreme and always wins when everyone loses.

To name a few big achievements wreaked on mankind recently, let us recall crusades, world wars, Hiroshima, Middle East conflict, Iraq, Vietnam, Rwanda, Serbia, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Somalia among many more. Let us not blame the rapes, plagues, aids, tsunamis, earthquakes and destruction of countless human beings on zombies. Zombies light the fireworks and watch this with glee.
