We the people are made fools again and again and have been lied to by President, Congress, the politicians and the entire government outfit.
It is terrible thing to say on the eve of a rare and interesting general election when the oratorical skills of Obama have been luring the normally indifferent youth to politics in droves.
Eliot Spitzer was the golden child till he entered the Emperors Club. It betrayed all the perceptions of the people who elected him by record margins. It was the height of hypocrisy when he was consorting with hookers while prosecuting others and destroying lives.
George Bush the compassionate conservative befooled all of us and has broken all records in spending and is heading the most irresponsive government in American history. The elections and public opinion are of no consequence. His words are the words of God. He is the Decider even if the whole nation is against him. Long live democracy.
Bill Clinton bit his lip and said “I did not have sex with that woman “and reduced the whole country into a tabloid. Who cares about the people who elected him? They are only voters who are manipulated by politicians every 2 years.
The arch conservative Rush Limbaugh goes on the air everything thinking that whatever he says is the work of God. He crashed his mystique by lying about his OxyContin addiction.
The American public have been made fool about immigration at every step. No one knows how many illegal’s are here. They are here due to connivance of many governments and business. They will ultimately stay here. None has a plan to plug the border. The show goes on via Lou Dobbs, Bush and many others.
The lies about Iraq War top it all. The fools who voted to overthrow the Republican Congress hoping that it will end the war are still wringing their hands. The war rages on and fools are voting primaries like mad and are waiting to break records at polls in November 2008.
Hillary, McCain and Obama have a chance to make us feel less foolish.

Democratic Party
Hillary has matured a lot during her campaign for Presidency. She has learned to smile and is standing stress without being brash. Obama has been soaring in oratory and winning a large number of states. He has been a Pied Piper to the young and new. Both of them are extraordinary politicians and human beings. That puts democrats in a bind. And they cannot afford to lose as if they do; it will be the end of Democratic Party as we know it. We may also be sowing the seeds of end of American democracy as we know it.
The winning strategy would be to:
Both campaigns should select 12 of their trusted supporters and authorize them to negotiate a party friendly and winning solution within a week. The 25th member of the committee should be Jimmy Carter.
Remember that US is still a white nation and Hillary at the top of the ticket would be a strong winning bet.
Obama should be offered a very strong role in the government. He should be the architect of our new foreign policy. He is a perfect person to repair the loss of American prestige in the world.
Let us offer Bill Clinton as the Secretary General of the UN. It would also help US to find more traction in the sullen world.
Offer John McCain, Chuck Hegel and Lieberman roles in dismantling the Bush War policy.
Let us focus on our own democracy and economy. Heal the Iraq war wounds. Do away with bitterness generated by Karl Rove and Company by crass politicking.

The American Democracy
Ralph Nader was on John Stewart Show recently. He made perfect sense. Our democracy is becoming an oligarchy which shuts out middle and lower classes economically and to legislative process. They live from hand to mouth and are the most prolific users of plastic. The system is clearly monopolized by both Republican and Democratic oligarchs. And as was very well paraphrased by Ralph Nader, the resources and power is gerrymandered between the two political parties.
It is ironic that we are trying to export democracy to the rest of the world and going all the way to import the undemocratic practices of the third world nations at the same time. Before our democracy becomes irretrievable let the reform begin at home.
Close the Guantanamo and do away with all undemocratic practices to curb individual freedom.
Reform the laws to curb the exorbitant expenditure on elections. Confine campaigning and election every 2 years to 90 days.
Are the legislators not are the lobbyists for those who elected them? We should completely ban lobbying.
Term limits of 2 terms or 5/8 years for all legislators in US will be a good start. All of them should be banned from holding any office with any government and strictly any lobbying.
Beat back the interference of religious entities in state affairs. We need not emulate the Muslim countries who are wedded to Religion –State amalgam.
Ralph Nader cannot be elected but the end of Bush nightmare would put our democracy back on a more even keel.

The Death of Iraq Policy
The Rumsfeld- Cheney Gang has finally failed. The Iraq will be front and center in November.
George Bush, with his endorsement of John McCain has made a tacit admission that his Iraq policy was a folly. The process to dismantle will begin as soon as Bush walks out of White House.
How will all three contending Presidential candidates disentangle the Bush mess?
McCain will close Guantanamo, shorten the army tours and move some of the army to Kuwait. He will than make General Peteraus declare a partial victory, who will recommend a systematic withdrawal of American forces in 5 years.
Hillary will do the same thing as McCain but couch it democratic language. She will call her 3 year withdrawal plan an immediate withdrawal. She will cite the economic benefits.
Obama will withdraw some troops immediately but mirror McCain and Hillary for the rest of policy.
So finally the Bush Iraq policy will be dead and buried in 2013.
