Who is Speaking for God

Pat Robertson say’s God had cursed those who voted for Darwin’s Evolution and Sharon, the comatose Israeli Prime Minister.

A former Deputy Prime Minister of India rode with a bow and arrow to reclaim temple land on his God instructions which resulted in a mass murder of Muslims.

Pope Benedict says that God prohibits gay priests but never says anything about the child abuse scandal in his church.

It was on God’s behest the Mullah’s of Iran issued a Fatwa to kill Americans and Salman Rushdie.

A local tribal council in Pakistan ordered women to be gang raped in the God’s name.

And Osama Bin Laden claims divine authority to train and send suicide bombers to kill innocent bystanders anywhere in the world.

The religion has always claimed a parallel power base as the God’s representatives. It has been used ruthlessly by both the state and the religion to subdue the powerless and poor segments of society like women and children. And the institutional religion continues to be very highly undemocratic beyond the normal law and order. Remember Korash of Waco who had no qualms about leading innocent children and women to a fiery end.

Religion has been a boon to countless human lives and has a secure place in human life. God seems to have however made some atrocious choices in the selection of his spokesmen. He may have appoint a special prosecutor and impeach them.
